FROM THE ARCHIVES: VINTAGE 18K GOLD OMEGA SPEEDMASTER APOLLO XI, CIRCA 1969

From the archives:  A few years back I purchased this extremely fine and rare 18k yellow gold Omega Speedmaster Apollo XI, circa 1969.  This is one of those pieces that I never stop thinking about.  Probably one of the most beautiful gold chronographs from Omega and possibly from the 'space age' era.

Description:

Produced in 1969 in limited numbers (1014 total) to commemorate the first manned landing on the moon, complete with 18k yellow gold Omega bracelet.  The first 39 watches were given to the astronauts with the exception of number 1 which was reserved for President Richard Nixon.  Each watch was engraved with the name of the recipient astronaut on the back.  The remaining 975 watches were engraved on the back "OMEGA SPEEDMASTER - APOLLO XI 1969 - THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON".  This example is actually number 601 and came to me from the original owner in mint condition!!

Quite possibly the 'ultimate' Space Race chronograph!
